Healthy Dinners to Lose Weight
Posted on 26. Apr, 2011 by admin in Nutrition
You may already have realized that there are no miraculous solutions to weight-loss. Starving yourself, using pills, and other drastic measures don’t count because in the long run, they aren’t good for you. Without exercising, the only way for you to shed off excess pounds and keep them off forever is by changing what you eat and how you eat. It’s time you start having healthy dinners to lose weight.
You need to change your eating habits altogether. Eat balanced meals; get more of the healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables. Cut down on sugars, fats, simple carbohydrates, and especially junk foods.
I know, getting started will be very difficult, especially if you’re used to eating unhealthy snacks. Once you pop, you can’t stop, right? So don’t start popping. Don’t worry; you won’t be starving anytime soon. To make up for all the unhealthy foods you’re about to give up, here are some ideas for healthy dinners to lose weight:
- 4 ounces filet o’ fish (salmon, flounder, sole, etc.) broiled or 4 ounces of seasoned chicken grilled or baked, a small potato also baked with 1 tablespoon of sour cream (low-fat, of course), half a cup of steamed broccoli, and a teaspoon of margarine.
- Pasta Primavera: half a cup of cooked bow tie pasta, a cup of steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, zucchini), a quarter cup of marinara sauce, and a tablespoon of parmesan cheese.
- Fajitas: one flour tortilla, 3 ounces of grilled steak or chicken, half a cup of grilled green peppers and onions, a quarter cup salsa, and a tablespoon of low-fat sour cream.
Avoid sauces that are too creamy and have lots of fat. Don’t eat desserts that are high in calories. If you really need to eat desserts, you can end your healthy dinners to lose weight with healthy desserts instead. Get a cup of fruit salad, a cup of fat-free yogurt, or even half a cup of sorbet or frozen yogurt.
Also, avoid having large dinners altogether. Since it’s very likely that you won’t be doing anything much after eating, the calories you’ve taken in won’t be burned off. These calories will get stored up as fat and we don’t want that. Even if you won’t be eating a large dinner, make sure you have a satisfying meal. Include protein, complex carbohydrates, and vegetables. This will help make sure you don’t sit in front of the TV all night munching on snacks.
These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to having healthy dinners to lose weight. If you look online, you will find more detailed recipes on healthy meals. Just because you’re losing weight doesn’t mean you should miss out on great-tasting food. Also, you may want to check out our other post on what foods help you to lose weight.
